UFTRI Kids' Program

Education is the main mission of the UFTRI.  We teach fly tying, we teach about the insects our flies imitate, and we teach fishing with these flies.  And members teach this not only to other members and visitors to our booths at fly tying shows—but to kids from 10 to 16.

John O’Meara runs a Kids’ Program, with monthly meetings at the Asprey Boathouse in Pawtuxett from 6 PM to 8 PM on the first Friday of October through March.

2 kids tying

There is also a Kid’s Symposium in late March, where kids tie for visitors.

And there will be an outing for kids at Addieville East Farm on Saturday, April 21st, 2007, from 8:30 AM to 2 PM.

Casting

Check out some of the images from last years Addieville Day with Ed Lombardo and many others working with the kids to understand the ecosystem of the pond and the fish that live there as well. They also got some great shots of the kids tying flies and casting too! Addieville 2006 Kids' Day
